Now there's a pretty box of pickles! My platelets finally went up significantly, but you will note my hemoglobin dropped into the "transfusion zone" (below 7). And just as I wrote that, oncology called to schedule a transfusion. I was not expecting to need one, because I am feeling so good today. I did notice on our walk yesterday afternoon that my wind is not what it used to be. It's all part of the cycle.
I kind of feel like our daffodils. Here they are yesterday morning before the temperature got above freezing:
But later in the day, when it warmed up, they perked up:
God's creation is so amazing to me. Some plants just die, when they freeze, while others He equipped to deal with freezing temperatures. I guess the reason daffodils are so popular is that they are often one of the first spring flowers to emerge, and they keep on fighting back after a frosty set-back. It's encouraging to see them "take a lickin' and keep on tickin'!" (Thanks Timex and John Cameron Swayze.)
The fact that my blood counts bounce around, and my body keeps bouncing back is another encouragement to me. One of the miracles of life, is that living things are so adaptable and cling desperately to life, even in the worst of circumstances. This is no accident, it is the way our Lord designed things. Scripture tells us:
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:16-17)
What a comfort it is to know that God did not create the universe and then go on a permanent vacation. Nope! He is always there "holding things together." And that's a very good thing, because it doesn't seem that anyone else can do that.
So, I praise the Lord for this day that He has made, and I am rejoicing because He gave me another one and is holding all things together, including me! Thank you, Father God!
Amen and amen!! Donalynn :-)
