SURPRISE!!
Well wouldn't that just frost you? I just got a call from the oncology office. They want me to go back to the hospital on Thursday (the day after tomorrow) for "consolidation" chemotherapy. This will involve a 5-7 day stay, during which time I will receive several doses of Fludarabine and Cytarabine, two of the three drugs I had in my recent 5 week stay at Club Sunnyside.
What this DOES NOT mean is that I am not in remission. I AM in remission. They do this treatment to kind of nail the lid on the coffin after the cancer is in remission. The surprise here is that they have given us fewer than 48 hours' notice. I have done this consolidation before, but I usually had 3-4 weeks' notice. Apparently the Day of the Lord is not the only thing that will come like a thief in the night!! (1 Thessalonians 5:2)
Oh, well. We can do this. Praise God for that. It's just that, with my blood counts doing so well, we scheduled a few social connections that will now have to be unscheduled. Not to mention I am trying to get our tax information ready to go to the accountant and deal with some things around the house that have needed attention.
If you are a praying person, please pray with us not only for a good outcome of my treatment, but that by God's grace the rest of our obligations will be met, as well.
You and Jill are very flexible and this sudden change in protocol , timing wise, will be met with strength and a reliance on God. That is your mantra. Praying for God's will to be done and for His grace to abound in every situation. God bless you! Donalynn
