Oh, my goodness! I can't believe I've let nine days go by without updating this blog. My excuse is that we have been so busy living life. As you will notice, my ANC is above 1000, which is the cutoff for going into quarantine, and in spite of my platelets and hemoglobin being lower than I would like, I have been feeling quite well. In fact, just yesterday, I told Jill I am feeling well enough that I am having second thoughts about selling our travel trailer.
A big part of my feeling of well-being is that my shoulder pain is virtually gone. It's like a miracle. Two months ago I couldn't have considered doing all that we have done in the past couple of weeks. Spring is well underway, and the weather has been warm and sunny. We planted our veggies and herbs. Then we divided a clump of ornamental grass that was in our front bed and replanted it in three parts in our backyard, where we had an old overgrown rhododendron removed last fall. We moved our water feature into the middle of the space, added some decorative river rock and a few plants and created what we are now calling our Zen Garden. It really is quite peaceful and seems to expand our outdoor living space. Just so there is no misunderstanding, I am not a practicing Buddhist. To me a Zen Garden is simply a peaceful place that is comforting to visit.
Here's the water feature with the huge rhododendron as backdrop:
And here's our new Zen Garden:
Now this may not seem like a big deal, but there was a lot of lifting and bending and stooping involved, none of which have been options for me for some time. But over these last few days, I have felt a lot more like my old self again. My blood counts have been at tolerable levels, and my body keeps on bouncing back. Indeed I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
To all of our friends who have been following this blog and to all who have spent time in prayer for me and for Jill, I want to assure you that your kindness and concern are definitely felt, and I believe that they are a huge part of the reason that I am feeling so well and enjoying life so much.
Thank you!!
I am so tickled for you and Jill. Your Zen garden is dreamy. It fits perfectly with your back deck and visiting area. Anyone who enters will feel peace and transformation. Love it. Donalynn
