Good news! Will you look at that ANC! I am solidly into the standard range for immunity. As I wrote in my previous post, we have been looking forward to this development so we may connect with friends and family... in person!! In addition, Jill's Mohs surgery (see previous post) was successfully completed on Tuesday. So, she no longer needs to quarantine, although, she is not too keen on being in public with a big bandage on her nose. Nevertheless, we are rejoicing for good news on both our behalves.
For me, part of the good news is that, for a change, I have had an opportunity to tend to Jill's needs. It has been fun to take care of the bulk of the cooking, help her with dressing changes, do the dishes, make beds and pick things up from the floor. Her surgeon was very specific that she is not to bend over with her head lower than her heart. The increased blood pressure in her head could cause the surgical wound to start bleeding. So far, she has been a good girl...mostly. She does seem to be a little reluctant to give up doing household chores.
Yesterday, we changed the dressing on her nose. I was pleased to see that the surgical wound is very neatly sutured and shows no signs of inflammation or infection. Jill has an appointment a week from Monday for suture removal. She was able to arrange that appointment at the same time that I will be getting a blood draw, thus saving us a trip to the clinic.
So, everything's coming up roses, so to speak. Last Sunday was Jill's birthday (you'll have to ask her which one). We usually don't exchange gifts on birthdays or Christmas, but this year, with her facing surgery, I decided to order her some flowers, a spring bouquet including red roses for the girl I love. Her best friend also sent her a bouquet that includes roses. So, things literally are coming up roses around here!!
Tom you are being an excellent care taker of Jill. She looked great when we saw her today. I pray you both can live your hearts' desire this Monday and Tuesday. God continues to bless you both!! Donalynn :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donalynn. I keep trying, but I'll never be the caretaker Jill is. It was so good to see you and Bob yesterday. Hope my numbers stay up on the lower doses of chemo, so we can do more of that.
