Into every life a little rain must fall. We are happy about that. It was a long, hot summer, and it has only come to an end in the last week or so. Did I mention it was also dry? Fortunately, we had a very wet, cool spring, so in our little corner of the world, we were not suffering from drought has we have for several years. I wish I could say the same for the rest of Oregon.

We started getting a bit of rain on Saturday, which was a blessing, because the fires in the drought stricken parts of Oregon had caused smoke to filter into the Willamette Valley and raise the Air Quality Index into the "unhealthy" range. The rain has washed a lot of that smoke out of the air, and our yard is also benefiting from the wet stuff. I will grant you that we have not had a real gully washer, but as I am fond of singing, whenever the rain falls: (to the tune of Bringing in the Sheaves) "Filling up the well. Filling up the well. We will come rejoicing, filling up the well."

We have had 0.06" of rain in our backyard in the past 10 hours. We'll take it. On the other hand, if you look at the Box Score above, you will see that neither the figurative rain nor the blood counts are falling. In fact, this is the first time in quite a spell that my ANC has been into the Standard Range. Jill's first question was, "How are we going to celebrate that?" And a darn good question it is. My immediate thought was, we could go to the tap house for a pint. But then I remembered, I am not supposed to drink while I am receiving chemotherapy. We did have breakfast at a restaurant with daughter Tara on Saturday. That was a treat. We haven't seen her face to face for three months. Now my ANC is even higher, so we will find a way to "live like you're healed."

We have many reasons to celebrate today, and as the Good Book reminds us, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights." (James 1:17) So, we give thanks to the Lord for these marvelous developments. And we pray your world is also full of blessings.
