BREAKING NEWS -updated

I got a preliminary report on my bone marrow biopsy. It reads in part,

“- No morphologic or immunologic evidence of previously diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia.

- Molecular analysis: genomic microarray and NGS pending."

The pending studies, from what I can learn on the web, are used to study genes or parts of genes. I'm not sure what they may be looking for with those studies, but everything in the report I received indicates that none of the cells they looked at are abnormal. I suppose these gene sequence studies are meant to take the search that much deeper. I give my medical team high ratings for their thoroughness.

I have an appointment for a consultation with my oncologist scheduled for a week from tomorrow. I expect the pending studies will be complete by then, and Dr. Waugh can interpret all of this stuff for me. Praise the Lord; it all looks good from here!

This report is very encouraging to me and especially so to Jill. Still, we choose to live one day at a time. One never knows what tomorrow will bring. As our Lord Jesus said, "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

But today we have no trouble in sight. So, today we rejoice and worship Jehovah Rapha, the God Who heals.

UPDATE: February 5, 2020

The molecular analysis of my FLT3 gene came back yesterday. It states in part:

"No internal tandem duplication (ITD) or D835/I836 tyrosine kinase domain mutation detected."

The report goes on to explain that mutations of the FLT3 gene confer a poor prognosis for AML.  The most common mutations are ITD (in 20-30% of cases) and tyrosine kinase mutation at site D835 (8-15% of cases). So, the absence of mutations at these sites sounds like good news to me. Once again, I will wait for Dr. Waugh's interpretation and continue to take things one day at a time.

Praise the Lord for another encouraging report!

    1. Yeah, we're pretty excited about this news. I am feeling better than I have since the summer of 2020. Yesterday, I started getting the trailer ready for an outing, just in case. Surprising how many things suffer from lack of attention. Tire pressure was low, fridge needs defrosting, battery needed water. Maybe we can see you guys sometime during the RV season!
