Yowza, yowza!
Greetings from Club Sunnyside! I just got checked in for round three of consolidation chemotherapy. This is another five day stay. We spent the night in our friends' condo, which is located about five minutes from the hospital. Jill will be staying there while I am here at the Club.
We arrived at the condo about three o'clock yesterday afternoon. It was a rainy drive from Dallas, but traffic was not terrible, at least from the perspective of the passenger. And by the way, I got behind the wheel of our trusty Ford on Monday. We had a little chip in the windshield, so I ordered a repair kit from Amazon and did the repair that day. Per the directions, I prepped the windshield in the garage and applied the resin repair, and then I was to put the car in the direct sunlight to cure the resin.
With a bit of trepidation, I was able to back the car out of the garage and make a ninety degree turn (in reverse, no less) to position the car just right. The repair turned out perfectly, and I proudly returned the car to the garage with nary a scratch. Pretty good for a guy who hasn't driven for about four months. (Trust me, you are glad I am not on the road these days. You are welcome.) But I digress.
When we got to the condo and settled in, I took the opportunity to take in the amazing view from the living room window. Here is what I saw:
If you look carefully, you can see downtown Portland at the bottom of the picture. But look at that sky. "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 19:1) We are truly blessed to have friends who share with us so generously.
I remain a boring case, according to Kari our friend and Nurse Practitioner. That's a good thing according to her and according to me. She has expressed her belief that I will have a good outcome after my treatment is complete. She is already making plans for my follow-up care after my next and final round of consolidation chemo in November. It sounds like occasional blood tests are about all she expects me to need. Settle down, Tom; one day at a time. Still, it is hard not to be optimistic with that kind of input!
For now, I have THIS round of chemo to deal with. It has not been hard in the past, and I don't expect it to be different this time around. Dr. Waugh just dropped in and reiterated what Kari told us. So encouraging.
So, if you are one of those who has been praying for me/us, please continue. It is doing the trick. And I give all the glory to God for my progress, for he designed this miraculous body that has responded to the medical care and the prayers in such a positive fashion.
With apologies to Charles Dickens, "God Bless us, every one!"
Praise God!! We have a mighty Daddy that loves us so much. I am so thankful for this report and the prayers will indeed continue. I'm so glad you and Jill got to see that spectacular skyline on Tuesday and that Jill will continue to see the glory of the Lord each time she looks out that window and looks into your eyes. :-) Take care...Donalynn

You can't know how much we appreciate that. Love to you and Don. I so hope we can see you guys next year.
